The Power of Anganwadi Workers

I had gone on a field visit in early November to witness and understand the work that Prajayatna does with Anganwadis and Anganwadi workers. Beyond the training and skill building that Prajayatna does, I was both surprised, impressed, and inspired by some of the stories that the Anganwadi workers shared (one of whose is shared below byย Rekhaย from Prajayatna).

These were stories of grit and determination; of going after something that was dear to them, of making things happen, and of taking the community along with them while bringing alive the change.

This, to me, was what felt like community owned and sustainable change. And I truly believe that the stories of these Anganwadi workers and communities need to be highlighted more. We have got one story off the ground and I will continue in my efforts to bring out more stories of Anganwadi workers like this.

Please take some time to read the story below. I hope it leaves you feeling inspired and eager to continue working towards sustainable, community owned transformations.
