Make ECD Fit Into Life

September 17 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

‘Make ECD Fit Into Life’ explores how we can design early childhood development in ways that work within the realities of family life, rather than asking families to add more activities, time or resources to their day.

Through four provocations, the session will invite participants to rethink how one can approach ECD. Participants will explore how everyday routines, relationships and objects can become opportunities for Talk, Care and Play, while questioning assumptions about caregivers, parenting and fathers’ roles.

The session will be reflective, participatory and practical, with a focus on seeing and strengthening the learning already present in everyday life.

What to expect?

  • Understand how to make ECD fit into everyday family life rather than adding more activities or tasks.
  • Identify and question assumptions embedded in common parenting and ECD messages.
  • Practise redesigning an ECD activity so that it can happen within an existing routine, without adding extra time.
  • Reframe fathers as caregivers in their own right, rather than as helpers or supporters of mothers.
  • Develop a lens for identifying Talk, Care and Play opportunities in ordinary routines and objects.

This masterclass is designed for:

  • Caregivers
  • Anganwadi Workers
  • Preschool educators
  • NGOs
  • Early childhood professionals
