SUMMARY:One Day\, One Story
DESCRIPTION:What happens when a child finds a story in a language that feels like home? \nThis ‘One Day\, One Story’ (ODOS)\, Pratham Books is celebrating the joy of reading in the languages children speak\, think\, and dream in – and it would be lovely if you were part of it. \nOne Day\, One Story is more than a reading session. It is a celebration of stories\, languages\, and the many people who help bring them to children. At the heart of the initiative is a simple belief: every child deserves the chance to discover the joy of reading in a language they understand and love. \nNone of this happens without the reading champions. Authors\, illustrators\, and translators do the work of bringing these stories to life\, but it’s you who carry them that final mile\, into homes and classrooms\, straight into a child’s hands. When you sign up\, you’re not just hosting a reading session; you’re the reason one more child falls in love with reading. \nThis year’s picks: \n\nFor younger readers: I Love to Read – written by Rohini Nilekani and illustrated by Angie and Upesh\, this one turns every child into a book lover.\nFor older readers: Asha’s Voice – written by Mathangi Subramanian and illustrated by Saheb Ram Tudu\, proof that being small doesn’t mean your ideas can’t be big.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBe part of the movement. \n\n\nSign up for One Day\, One Story 2026 and get print or digital copies of Pratham Books’ chosen stories in your preferred language. ODOS week runs from 8th–15th September – pick any date that works\, gather the children in your community\, and give them a story that stays with them. \n\n\nEvery child who reads because of you is one more step toward #GetChildrenReading. That’s not a small thing. That’s the whole mission. \n\n\nSnap it\, film it\, share it! Post your moments using #ODOS2026 and #PrathamBooks; Pratham Books will send you a digital certificate celebrating your part in this reading movement. \n\n\nHaving trouble with the form or have questions? Write to champions@prathambooks.org

SUMMARY:Make ECD Fit Into Life
DESCRIPTION:‘Make ECD Fit Into Life’ explores how we can design early childhood development in ways that work within the realities of family life\, rather than asking families to add more activities\, time or resources to their day. \nThrough four provocations\, the session will invite participants to rethink how one can approach ECD. Participants will explore how everyday routines\, relationships and objects can become opportunities for Talk\, Care and Play\, while questioning assumptions about caregivers\, parenting and fathers’ roles. \nThe session will be reflective\, participatory and practical\, with a focus on seeing and strengthening the learning already present in everyday life. \nWhat to expect? \n\nUnderstand how to make ECD fit into everyday family life rather than adding more activities or tasks.\nIdentify and question assumptions embedded in common parenting and ECD messages.\nPractise redesigning an ECD activity so that it can happen within an existing routine\, without adding extra time.\nReframe fathers as caregivers in their own right\, rather than as helpers or supporters of mothers.\nDevelop a lens for identifying Talk\, Care and Play opportunities in ordinary routines and objects.\n\nThis masterclass is designed for: \n\nCaregivers\nAnganwadi Workers\nPreschool educators\nNGOs\nEarly childhood professionals\nCurriculum designers\nGovernment stakeholders\nAnyone interested in children’s early development

SUMMARY:What happens to childhood when the climate around us is changing?
DESCRIPTION:Climate change reaches further than heatwaves and rainfall. It reaches into the ground children learn\, play\, rest and grow on. \nLess outdoor play on a hotter afternoon; A school day interrupted by flooding; Feeling hot and sweaty as an ordinary state rather than an occasional one; New pressures landing on the adults responsible for caring for them. \nNone of this shows up in a weather report\, but all of it is invisibly becoming part of what it means to grow up right now. \nOn 17 September\, as part of Climate Week India\, Bachpan Manao is joining Mudito for a conversation on exactly this\, what a changing climate actually does to childhood\, not as a future risk\, but as a present\, everyday condition. \nThree people are joining us\, each looking at this from a different scale: \n\nMahalakshmi Ganapathy\, educator and mother\, on what climate shows up as inside a single family’s daily decisions\, the small\, constant negotiations that don’t make it into any policy document\nSuhel Quader\, Nature Conservation Foundation\, on the forgotten loss of children’s everyday\, casual contact with the natural world\, and what citizen science is picking up about that shift\nRiya Kumari\, young education practitioner at Yuwa India\, on how heat\, flooding\, and disruption actually land inside a classroom\, and who bears that disruption unevenly
